Tips for Preventing Frozen Car Locks

• Park in the Garage: The moisture from snow and rain can make its way into your locking mechanism and freeze during the winter months. By parking in the garage, your vehicle will be in a warmer environment that prevents moisture from freezing and causing issues.

• Use a Lubricant: Lubricating your locks is not only essential to keeping them operating smoothly, but it can also prevent freezing. Lubricants are moisture-repellant and can stop moisture from affecting your door locks.

• Use Vaseline: Vaseline can be used as an improvised lubricant. Apply a small amount to your car key, insert it into the car keyhole, and turn it several times. Repeat this process several times to ensure that your lock is adequately covered in all areas.

• Attach a Magnet: Place a magnet over the car keyhole. It will attach to the metal part of the locking mechanism and act as a cover over the keyhole. The magnet will act as a protective cover, keeping moisture out of the lock and preventing freezing.
